A parent recently asked me: “Is it possible for a teacher to bully a student?” In essence, I think she was saying, “My child is being bullied by a teacher, but I don’t know what to do about it.” As a parent myself, I know where she’s coming from. If you take the bullying definition from StopBullying.gov very literally (where it describes bullying as happening “among school-aged children”), then you would have to say it’s impossible for a teacher to bully a student. But as a full time author on bullying, my instincts and experience tell me otherwise. I believe teacher-to-student bullying can definitely happen, and it does happen… sometimes.
